Compost Monitor

Will O’Reilly is Kokatahi-Kowhitirangi School compost monitor. He takes the little compost bin out to the big compost bin to put the compost into there. Then he puts the water on over top of the little compost bin to rinse it out. Then he puts the little compost bin back in the staff room and then he sits on the deck with all the other students. He has been doing it for 1 ½ years. He started in December 2016 and is going to do it for as long as the previous compost monitor did it.

This is in a game called Multiverse and it is in outer space and is on Mathletics and is about multiplication and do times tables before you discover the planet or upgrade a waystation or trading post.

tHE BOY ENTERED THE GATES OF A AMAZING zoo AND SAW A HUGE ELEPHANT RUNNING DOWN THE ZOO. hIS NAME WAS TOM RIVERS, HE HAD A TELEPORTING TORCH, HE HAD MOUSE COLOURED FLOPPY HAIR HE HAD A FEW FRECKLES HIS JOB IS A NIGHT ZOOKEEPER AND HE HATES SPIDERS BUT ADORES ANIMALS. hIS TORCH WAS GLOWING THEN DRAWN THE ELEPHANT ON A WALL THEN STOOD ON A GLOWING GROUND.

sOME STUFF SHOT OUT OF THE TORCH THEN A GIRAFFE APPEARED. tOM sTROKED him.  tOM PUT HIS HAND OUT AND tHE GIRAFFE LICKED IT. THE GIRAFFE’S NAME WAS SAM. tOM RAN THROUGH THE FOREST THEN SAW A GROUP OF SPIDERS ABOUT TO ATTACK HIM. tHEY WERE VERY CLOSE TO ATTACKING HIM BUT SAM ATTACKED THE SPIDERS. SAM STOOD THERE FOR A FEW SECONDS. tHERE was a black and white penguin, a grey and huge elephant, sam the girrafe, a seal, a osrich, a polar bear and tom. A FOREST CAME UP.

We should look after the environment

In my opinion, we should look after the environment because we will not get to play our favorite games like Hop Scotch for example.

Recycling

We should recycle everything even plastic (if they can).  Recycling works like this Reduce Reuse Recycle. That is how recycling works. Do not be lazy and chuck stuff everywhere because that’s rubbish. If your country is polluted put posters around town that says to recycle or you will be stuck in rubbish.

Reason 1

We should not throw stuff away because we might get stuck in rubbish. Would you like it if you were stuck in rubbish?  If you see someone chucking stuff away say,”Don’t chuck that stuff away, recycle it”. Then everyone will be happy. Then you could pass it on to other towns.

Reason 2

There will be no room to do outdoor hobbies like motorbike riding so look after our environment. Motorbikes can still cause pollution. The carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide from the exhaust pipe can still cause pollution. But carbon dioxide is still good for trees. Why? Anyway if you keep the environment clean you will still be able to ride your motorbike.

We should look after our local environment, too like I will talk about my local environment for example like Kokatahi should not chuck rubbish in the Toharoa river like riparian planting is a good idea. I have writing about riparian planting. Kokatahi should not chuck rubbish in the Kokatahi river, Styx River, Kaniere river, Whites Creek, Raft Creek and Duck Creek.         

In my opinion, we should look after our beautiful earth because it is the only planet we can live on so we need to look after our natural environment. You should recycle and be able to do outdoor hobbies. Would you really pollute our planet?

WALT: We are learning to structure an information report correctly. We are learning to use capital letters and full stops.

Success Criteria: We will have an introduction, body, and conclusion. We will have a title. We will use a capital letter to start a sentence, at the beginning of a name, and a full stop at the end of every sentence.

Big idea being reported on: Ripairian planting is when plants get planted along a waterway like a river or a creek for example. Riparian Planting

Let’s talk about riparian planting. Riparian planting is when we plant along waterways like creeks or rivers for example. We also will know that plants even shade a creek but not very much of the creek. What do you know about Riparian planting?! I’m going tell you why. It has bushes along a waterway. Nutrients get solved, Erosion and shade.

Solving Nutrients Poo/wee

Plant roots soak cow manure up and the nutrients make soil richer. Like fertilizer can fall in too. And Manure.

Shade

If it is a very hot day then the creek/river’s animal’s will die. They will need to be in the shade.

Erosion

Erosion is when soil by the creek/river falls in the creek/river.

In summary Riparian planting is when we plant along waterways liker creek/river. Nutrients get absorbed into the soil, erosion happens and the creek/river needs shade.
